Terms and Conditions

Welcome to The Mindful Organiser’s Terms and Conditions, which will form my service agreement with you.

Scope of Services

The Mindful Organiser is a professional decluttering and organising business that assists individuals in removing excess and organising spaces in their homes or workplaces. These services include, but are not limited to: assessing a client’s organisational needs; sorting, categorising, and decluttering items; providing recommendations for storage solutions; creating and implementing organisational systems; offering guidance on maintaining an organised space.

Best Advice /Disclaimer

Advice is given in good faith and is always your decision to accept or reject them regarding retention of specific belongings is entirely yours. I cannot assume responsibility for the outcome of such decisions. Please note that I am not an appraiser and I lack expertise in identifying items of special value or rarity. Therefore, I am not qualified to provide advice on item valuation.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Due to the nature of the services provided, I may encounter personal and business information pertaining to the client. I will never disclose any personal or confidential details to third parties, and I will always maintain the highest level of confidentiality. I will work without judgement of anything seen or discussed during work sessions.

If you are kind enough to give a testimonial and/or allow pictures or videos to be taken during the sessions, they will only be used with your written consent. The only way your situation might be mentioned would be in the context of my services, and will be depersonalised and unidentifiable (e.g. “a client in York”). It is helpful to be able to offer examples of how particular situations might be addressed when talking with other clients, and to provide before and after images.

Protecting your Data

The Mindful Organiser employs reasonable security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of the information collected. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is, however, entirely secure. I cannot, however, guarantee absolute security.

Insurance

I am fully insured with Professional Indemnity and Public Liability coverage for up to £1 million.

Cleaning

During the process of decluttering and organising, I am happy to undertake some light cleaning. Please note that I do not provide a specialised cleaning service.

Moving, Handling, and Safety

When I handle items belonging to customers, I take great care to ensure their protection. Unfortunately, accidents may happen. I cannot be liable for any losses or damages, regardless of how they are caused. I rely on you to maintain current insurance coverage to compensate for any losses or damages caused by me in my capacity as your agent.

For health and safety reasons, I am not able to lift or move large furniture items.

If access to your home or premises is unsafe or restricted, I reserve the right to charge for lost time and expenses incurred. Examples of unsafe work environments include: structural issues in the designated work area; infectious illness; pest infestation; severe mould issues.

Removal of Items/Green Policy

The Mindful Organiser is an eco-friendly business, and so aims to promote recycling or donation of your items whenever possible. The service includes the removal of donations, which is limited to one car load (approximately 6x large bin bags) per session. I am unable to remove waste from your property, but I am happy to utilise your waste and recycle receptacles.

Disposal and/or removal of your belongings will never take place without your authorisation. The client accepts responsibility for all items removed during the decluttering process. I am happy to offer suggestions on the appropriate disposal or sale of items.

Access

If you engage me to work at a particular location and access is restricted, I reserve the right to charge for lost time and incurred expenses.

Service Costs

The hourly rate for my in-person organising services is charged at £40 per hour, and are charged to the nearest 15 minutes.

Should you require assistance finding suitable storage solutions, there is an hourly charge of £25 to research and correspond with clients outside booked sessions.

Length/Hours of Work

There is a minimum of a 3-hour booking per session. Whenever possible, I highly recommend planning for 4-5 hours to allow for greater progress to be made.

Travel Costs

I can travel up to 25 miles from my office in York. Anything beyond this distance will be charged 45p per mile. If travel time is in excess of one hour each way, an additional charge may be made for the time to travel at £40 per hour (charged to the nearest 15 minutes). This will be discussed with clients prior to booking.

Cancellation

Both you and I have the right to cancel a session due to unforeseen circumstances. If you can give me a 48 hour notice, we can reschedule your appointment. If you cancel less that 48 hours before your session, I will charge 50% of the total cost for that appointment.

Should I need to cancel an appointment for any reason, I will let you know as soon as possible. I will reschedule for a date that is convenient to both parties.

Payment Terms

My services are charged by the hour. You will be invoiced by email after each session, and payment is require in full no later than 3 days from the invoice date. Payments can be made in cash or by BACS, and payment details will be included in the invoice.

Some jobs may require expenses in addition to my service and travel charges. Any additional expenses will not be incurred without the prior approval of the client.

Termination

Either party has the right to terminate the decluttering and organising services by providing written notice, which may be done via email. If termination occurs, the client is responsible for payment of services rendered up to the termination date.

Changes to the Terms

I reserve the right to modify and update these terms and conditions at any time. I will notify you of any changes by changing the effective date of this document. Your continued use of my services after any modifications or updates acknowledges the revised items.
